Could something happened?

yesterday in my appointment my midwife told me am 3 cm dilated ..now am having allot of pressure on my vagina and am having contractions but not too close .. could something be happened from yesterday to now ??idont wanna call the hospital or go for waste or for nothing ..
( BTW tomorrow ill be 37 weeks) you are prob. just having the braxton hicks contractions.
  • "Something" can happen from minute to minute once you pass 3 cm. Best bet is go to hospital.
  • Yeah --- The day before I gave birth to my son, I was 3 cm but nothing was happening so they sent me home. The next day I woke up and felt the contractions they weren't that strong --- not that close together -- so I just scheduled an appointment good thing I did when I did because I went through labor really fast --- especially for my first child.

Hope this helps, good luck to you. Bless your family!
  • my advice is go to the hospital things can happen so fast and its not worth the risk..
my little girl is three weeks old and she was born at 36 weeks.. betta safe than sorry
  • Sounds like labor to me.
  • My hospital didn't want anything to do with me until I was in labour so far I could barely walk. Which was fair enough. I was more comfortable at home. I had the whole day of labour pains at home and when I went to hospital it took about 4 hours before birth. Make sure you do what ever your little heart desires. If you want to go in now, you do that! But they may send you home. Good luck.
  • I have had several friends who have went into labor after a dr appointment. Depending on the severity, and timing of your contractions, it could very well be labor. Calling or going to the hospital is NOT a waste, I am 37 weeks pregnant as well and it can be very alarming when something seems different or just "not right". I have been feeling alot of pressure as well but have not been told how far dilated I am. Hope this helps a little, I am basically saying that this could be the start of labor, and if your contractions start to become more intense or if you start noticing anything else that is different, I would DEFINETELY call your Dr.
  • I'm jealous! I'm 39 and only at a 1! Actually, I've been experiencing alot of vaginal pressure and pain and I was having contractions every 7-10 minutes for about an hour, then they'd taper off. I thought for sure that I would've been at least at a 2, but they told me I was STILL at a one. So it can vary. Being you are already at a 3, chances of you dialating faster now can be greater than in my case. If you go to the hospital without having steady contractions, usually every 5-8 minutes apart for 1-1 1/2 hours, they most likely will send you home. If you are in so much pain that you cannot take it anymore, then I would go. Try laying down with some water and elevate your legs. Good Luck with everything and I hope that you have a easy delivery and healthy baby.
